Proven Businesses You Can Start From Home – Home Parties

Home ‘Parties’
A home party business is where you hold events at your home or visit other peoples houses (at their request!) to demonstrate and sell a range of products. The idea of these parties is that a number of people will attend each event, creating a pleasant atmosphere and hopefully lots of sales.
To succeed you will need to be good at talking to groups of people and demonstrating products, an ability to sell will also be beneficial. You will also need transport to and from events held outside your home.
Depending on what type of party you run, you will earn money in one of two ways:
The most common type of party business involves selling products on behalf of another company; you are paid commission (sometimes up to 40%) on everything that you sell, and may also get a discount on the company’s products. With this type of party, you may also need to meet a minimum sales target each month.
The other type of party business involves buying and selling products as you would with a shop. You buy the items from the manufacturer or a distributor, and earn money on any profit that you make in selling them. There are many different types of product that you can sell through home parties; common examples include kitchen goods, clothing, jewellery, children’s clothes or toys and wine. There has even been a number of botox parties reported, where licensed doctors sell the facelift treatment!
The most widely known home party company, Tupperware, no longer uses them to sell its products; although this is most likely due to the fact that people already know the products, and there are lots of competitors. However, there are still many successful home party businesses operating, and the low setup and running costs mean the financial risks are quite low.
Although a home party business is not likely to make you rich, it does provide flexible hours and a fun working environment. The startup costs are also very low, particularly if you are working on commission and do not need to buy the products you are demonstrating. Home parties most commonly gain customers using word of mouth, though well placed flyers and local newspaper adverts can also be effective. You can also pass out business cards with your details on, and brief information on the products you sell.
