Planning and Escaping Stress at Work

Escape Reality

Just imagine - you are full of stress at work and suddenly, you are on a tropical island with only the sound of the waves and birds singing, the warm sun all over your body and the relaxing feeling of the sand beneath you. No cares in the world, just you and the everlasting peace.

For five whole minutes, you are in your own personal heaven and then BANG! - You are back in reality with phones ringing, paperwork everywhere and that everlasting headache.

But, for that last five minutes, you escaped it all. This was all done by a picture. Yes, that's right - pictures can help. Relaxation posters can turn reality into dreams and the psychology behind them has been proved to help people escape stress and create a calmer environment in the office - try them you may be surprised.

Make Time for Yourself

Plan for Stress

Stress more than often creeps up on us unexpectedly. The solution is to be ready for it when it threatens. Have a back up plan for everything - a second financial plan right down to a spare set of keys for the office.

Relax - Take a Few Moments

Stress can build up at an alarming rate so we must learn to release it. When stress builds up, stop, take a few moments, and focus. Take deep, slow breaths to bring your heart rate and respiration back to normal. Take 'time-out', say, five minutes every hour to empty your thoughts. On a lunch break? Go and sit somewhere quiet where no one can disturb you and let the quietness calm you.

It may be that your business is stopping you from having any free time for yourself, but it is something that has to be done. You may think that by making time for yourself your business will suffer, but remember - your business will not succeed if there is no one healthy enough to run it.

Let your mind stray from the world of business by watching TV, reading, having fun with your kids, a couple of pints at the pub - anything that makes you relax.

There are many relaxation techniques that you can adopt, and one of the books that we have suggested can offer further information on how to use them.
