Fraudsters are to cash in on HMRC tax blunder
Millions of taxpayers could be targeted by fraudsters because of the PAYE blunder, HM Revenue & Customs has warned.
HMRC are warn ing taxpayers that there will be an upsurge in email scamming or phishing as it is known by people in the know, and fake letters, to get hold of personal details. It is reckoned that 4.3 million taxpayers have paid too much tax and will be due refunds. A spokesman for HMRC said “There could be an upsurge of scam emails in the light of the repayments we are making.” If you need to know more you should visit the HMRC website and take a look at the scams that have been uncovered to date.
