Don't Miss the Annual Returns Deadline

If you haven’t yet filed your Employer’s
Annual Returns then you need to act quickly;
the deadline to get them to HM Revenue &
Customs (HMRC) is the 19th May
2005.
If you fail to get the returns in on time
you risk getting a late filing penalty; and
if you are registered to file online, you
risk missing out on the incentive payment
for small businesses. HMRC recommend that if
you are filing online, you do so before 10am
and after 4am to avoid the peak rush that
could slow the service down.
While businesses with over 249 employees are
required to file online, smaller businesses
do not have to; although you may find that
this saves time in trying to beat the
deadline!
If you are running a little late, don’t
panic; if your return arrives after the 19th
May, but before the 27th May, you
are not likely to be charged a penalty,
although the return will still be marked as
late. There is plenty of help available from
the government, so act now and avoid those
penalties.
Information on the returns and what you need
to do are available from the
HMCE website here.
