Top Things Your Customers Expect from Your Website - Are You Missing Out on Customers?
As
part of a small business, you will know how
important a good website is in attracting
online customers; but are you aware of just
how important your web presence is for your
offline customers?
60% of all consumers search the internet to
find out more about a company before they
buy from them, and 40% are put off buying if
there is no website, or there is one that
poorly represents the business.
The research by Talk Talk Business also
found that 65% of consumers feel better
supporting small businesses instead of a
large company, and around 30% of consumers
prefer to buy from a small business.
Professor David Storey, head of SME research
at the Warwick Business School believes that
small businesses are still lagging behind
when it comes to making the most of
internet: "The research clearly shows that
three out of ten of us would prefer to buy
from small businesses and 65 percent of us
feel better if they buy from a smaller
business rather than a large national
organisation. But small businesses are
missing out on this goodwill as in many
instances they do not have a website or if
they do, it is not a good representation of
the business.
"Cost and a lack of know-how is often the
reason why small businesses are still
lagging behind on technology but if UK small
businesses are to survive in an increasingly
global market place it is something they
need to address and fast."
The survey found that the most important
aspects your potential customers look for in
your website are:
1. Online ordering function
2. A customer service number
3. Customer testimonials
4. Email address for correspondence
5. Map to find premises
6. Prices of products
7. A company history
8. Staff biographies
The message is clear, even if you don’t have
an online store; having a reasonable website
can make a huge difference to your sales.
More than half of your potential customers
will now look at your website (or a lack of)
before choosing to buy from you; making your
web presence more important than ever
before.
